Venus, our bright morning star, is about to disappear behind the sun. The journey of Venus’s orbit around the sun is described on ancient Sumerian clay tablets and is called "The Descent of Inanna.” This myth depicts the dance of the celestial goddess and the psychological interpretation of the individuation process. This process of awakening is a requirement for all humans to traverse to develop consciousness and spiritual potential.
Venus/Inanna demonstrates the sacred act of surrender. She let's go of worldly and heavenly status, garments and sacraments,
and the deeply buried pain within. The myth evokes that part of the psyche that is curious to know our existence beyond our material possessions, acceptable cultural behaviour and conditioning. The great Yogis term this practice as “pratyahara” which means to withdraw from the worldly senses and pleasures by turning awareness inwards to know who we truly are.his week we vibrated the cosmos by clearing out some dirty entities that was in a townhouse that we had rented out. We brought sage and Palo Santo (holy wood) to clear any stagnant energies, aberrant thought forms, negative entities, curses, and dark portals that may have taken residence there.
The journey of Inanna’s descent into the underworld, or the subconscious mind, coincides with the planet Venus moving within 10 degrees of the sun’s rays where she is no longer visible in the sky. On November 16, 2017, Venus will merge into the rays of the sun leaving the morning star to descend to the underworld. She will remain behind the sun, hidden from view until February 2018, where she will emerge as the evening star on the West horizon just after sundown. While Inanna is in the underworld, she faces the ultimate fear of death after having all her heavenly decrees stripped. She enters the underworld naked and bowed low to have the eyes of death cast upon her, and her physical body hung on meat hooks.
This part of the story reminds us that connection to self-love is essential to access the neutral mind, as we witness, process, and heal our deepest fears and shadows.
The practice of collecting the disassociated aspects of our psyche is the practice of self-healing and becoming whole. As the missing pieces are reunited, the door opens for our consciousness to become seated in the higher heart.
Before we are all called to venture into the underworld with Inanna, Jupiter gives us a phenomenal gift in the morning sky on November 13th, lighting up Venus, in a conjunct visible on the eastern horizon before dawn. Jupiter will expand her attributes of self-love, connection, and values preparing us for the journey into the unknown.
