I have been interested in yoga for a long time. My mum used to practice it during the 1960's onwards until recently.  I remember that if I was off school sick, she would take me with her and I'd watch the ladies in their black leotards and stockings twisting and turning.  This intrigued me. She only stopped a few years ago when she couldn't drive any more. Her love for a different take on physical health opened my mind to Yoga.

A while ago I saw a brief piece on Kundalini Yoga in an online Yoga newsletter and it suggested trying Kundalini Yoga.  It seemed a very ancient technique and so my husband and I tried some of the meditations and really loved them. After a short while I found Centre for Life on the Gold Coast and started practicing with Adi Shakti. It was quite different to what I was used to but I loved how deep I went in each class.  Some of the breathing techniques were a bit challenging at first but over the weeks I got better at it.  I knew that my mind was releasing some very negative patterns and habits as my daily life started to become so much more clear. I really enjoy the welcome I receive each time I go to class; it feels like a comforting space and we are led so beautifully even though there are many different levels of fitness in the class.

Each week is a new journey it seems, as we work on a different part of the mind or body with a Kriya or meditation. I am happy and joyous each time I come home so I know everything is getting better; mind, body and soul. It has also been wonderful to have my husband come to the classes too; he understands the structure and why I am listening to certain mantras or doing a 40 day practice.

I'm really grateful I have received the Kundalini teachings and ecstatic that we have a centre here on the Gold Coast to learn from.
