Meet Vanessa Strauss

"Right now I am here, working with individuals and groups to heal and align with a more genuine part of themselves."

Imagine... a swirl of dots, gold in colour. They are whirling around one another, faster and faster. The radius pulls in, tighter and tighter, eventually becoming a solid, perfectly straight, golden line. This line then takes the appearance of a golden arrow. It holds within its structure pure intent, unwavering purpose, a clear vision of what's ahead.

A few years ago, I had a vision of these swirling dots, and upon reflection, I understood them to represent the journey of my inner purpose.

Throughout the last two decades, I have been collecting many tools, techniques, philosophies, both from Eastern and Western understandings, all to better comprehend how to help people heal. But many of the perspectives offered opposing views, and in some cases vehemently contradicted each other. How was I to make sense of this?

There is a popular talk on YouTube by Apple Computer founder Steve Jobs at a Standford commencement address. When Steve was in college, he felt the urge to take a calligraphy instruction class. Calligraphy in no way had any relevance to anything that he was doing at that time, nor did he see it being of any value in the future. However, he went with his gut feeling and learned the science and art of what makes great typography.

Many years later, this once impractical skill came full circle and resulted in Steve developing the first computer with beautiful typography. That was the Macintosh computer introduced in 1984.

"You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something - your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life."

-Steve Jobs

This is an example of Steve's swirling dots taking form and becoming a directed arrow.

I started my professional development studying Health Science (Acupuncture) and continued this path through to finishing a Masters Degree from RMIT University. During the early years, I became certified as a Kundalini Yoga Teacher, Hatha Teacher, and Reiki Master. I continued my Kundalini Yoga studies and completed all of the Level 2 Teacher Training and began working with a Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training Team.

I was in an accumulation phase. My golden dots were swirling.

At an early professional age, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to teach a wide variety of subjects in front of large groups. I lectured at Endeavour College of Natural Health and Queensland School of Massage. I trained yoga teachers and taught yoga classes; all the while maintaining a busy private acupuncture practice and continuing furthering my education in many fields in holistic health and healing.

This experience was indispensable. I practised my presentation skills, learned to read the energy of groups, worked with anecdotes, myths, and vibrations to usher the collective field, and practised stillness to learn to hold space in neutral awareness.

I was now in the process of refinement in the essential skills which I would draw upon later. My golden dots were pulling in tighter.

But I still lacked a clear overriding purpose. A 'legacy' if you will.

In 2015 my husband, Rhett, had an insight: "look to the stars to understand how to integrate all that you are learning."

At this time, I had already been studying AcuTonics, a system of using precision tuning forks on acupuncture points as a healing modality. AcuTonics was a natural adjunct for me as its philosophy is based on combining Acupuncture theory, which I new back-to-front after five years of lecturing, with an elementary comprehension of astrology, cosmology, depth psychology, mythology, music theory and astronomy.

In 2016 I completed an astrology apprenticeship. After all my years of studying, I have never been so enthusiastic about learning anything. Astrology makes sense to me. It feels right. I would wake up in the middle of the night compelled to read an astrology book, listen to a podcast, or study a patients chart.

When I am sleeping, the language of astrology whispers melodiously in my dreams. Questions are answered, connections are made. I have been sailing the high 'astrolo-seas' with my compass set to due North node (astrology joke), where my destiny awaits.

It was here that I realised that my gold dots have unified and formed a beautiful straight line. All of the modalities that I have studied; Chinese Medicine, Herbal Medicine, Kundalini Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Reiki, Holistic Lifestyle Coaching, Tuni Na & Shiatsu Massage, AcuTonics, Story/Myth, Nutrition, Space Cleansing, Sound/Vibration, and Pranayama, can now be applied with pinpoint precision.

I have learned how to discover the soul-story of each person through reading their birth chart, offer a curious inquiry, and rely on a little intuition. I now understand where each person stands on their evolutionary journey. I now know how to most favourably apply my tools, techniques, and philosophies to support their growth towards healing from inner-conflict, unresolved experiences and connecting with their Soul.

Now, back to these golden dots. Have they formed a golden arrow yet?

To be honest, I don't know. Although I still have many years remaining on this planet, I have had enough life experience to expect the vicissitudes of life to continue. I don't know where my Soul will take me. All I know is that right now, I am here, working with individuals and groups to heal and align with a more genuine part of themselves.

I regularly run workshops, and I am available for private consultations in-person or via Skype.  You can contact me via email or book in for a consultation online.
